Twenty years ago, the British Government began work on what is known as "Project Rewrite". The purpose of the program was to collect DNA from some of history's most influential figures and use it to parent children. Children who, with the right training, could become the next leaders of Britain (and perhaps the rest of Europe).

The first successful group of fertilizations were nineteen years ago. Moira is the product of one of these, with her "mother" being Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. After taking the International Baccalaureate program at the International School of Aberdeen, in Scotland, Moira found herself accepted at Oxford, where she is studying History and French despite her parents' recommendations against it. When not in school, she works at a nearby animal shelter.
